Grades 5-8

Beginning in Grade 5, students move from the single classroom setting of the younger grades into a departmentalized structure that features an academic specialist for each area of study.  The demanding coursework is designed to prepare the students for the transition to high school. Each student has one-to-one computing capabilities and the use of technology is an integral part of the Gr. 5-8 curriculum.

The curriculum has been aligned to the New York State Common Core and Albany Diocesan Standards. A variety of teaching methods are incorporated into the daily lessons including projects, labs, experiments, field trips, and observation. Students who are academically ready will be invited to participate in advanced math and science, completing the 9th grade Integrated Algebra course and the New York State Regents level Living Environment (Biology) course. Students who successfully complete the Spanish proficiency exam graduate with a high school credit in a foreign language.
